We’re hiring a Postdoctoral Researcher in Neuroscience of Obesity!
The Yi Lab at Amsterdam UMC is looking for a passionate and creative postdoc to join our ZonMw Vici project: “Targeting microglial memory to improve the treatment of obesity.”
Our lab investigates how microglia-neuron interactions in the hypothalamus drive obesity and weight regain after weight-loss interventions. Using human postmortem brain tissue, organoid-like brain slice cultures, and multi-omics approaches, we aim to develop novel microglia-targeted anti-obesity treatments.
What you’ll do
Develop and characterize human brain slice culture models.
Apply single-cell and spatial multi-omics to study microglia-neuron interactions.
Test potential microglia- and neuron-targeting compounds.
Collaborate closely with animal model researchers and industry partners.
Who we’re looking for
PhD in neuroscience or related field.
Hands-on experience with ex vivo brain slice or organoid cultures.
(Bonus) Experience in bioinformatics or multi-omics data analysis.
Motivated, collaborative, and excited about translational neuroscience.
What we offer
A stimulating, collaborative research environment within Amsterdam UMC Research BV.
Initial 12-month contract (with extension intent).
Competitive salary (€3,598 – €5,669/month, full-time) + 8.3% year-end bonus.
Excellent benefits and support for professional growth.
